Global Business & Corporate Social Responsibility

Given the complexity and magnitude of these tasks, we're exploring innovative and sustainable solutions. At the crux of this work is promoting just and equitable paths for future generations.

Develop a sophisticated understanding of current challenges and their policy-practical solutions through our global environmental change and adaptation certificate program. This certificate combines a core curriculum with wide latitude to explore issues of sustainability and environmental management from a variety of perspectives. The program prepares students for roles in government, nonprofit and private sectors.

Global Health Affairs

About this Program

The certificate consists of two Global Health Core courses and two Methods and Practice core courses, complemented by three elective courses and an internship/field requirement. The seven-course CGHA sequence prepares students for systematic, evidence-based approaches to a broad range of global health problems relating to development, diplomacy, security, trade and human rights.

In addition to coursework, you're required to complete 150 hours at an internship. If you have questions about these requirements or internship opportunities, we encourage you to speak with an advisor.

Receive specialized homeland security training that equips you to develop, articulate and implement innovative approaches to preventing and coping with terrorism and mass casualty events. This novel certificate is one of the first and most comprehensive efforts to address this critical need. 

Qualified graduates will be prepared to serve as administrators, executives, analysts and consultants in government and the private sector. Recent graduates have found employment with the Defense Intelligence Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, General Accountability Office, and the National Security Administration.

Humanitarian Assistance

The humanitarian system comprises international, national and local entities who work together to alleviate suffering and save lives of people affected by conflict, displacement and natural disasters.

Our certificate in humanitarian assistance provides students with the theoretical and practical underpinnings for humanitarian work that is technically sound, partners with affected communities, responds to diverse needs, and sets the stage for sustainable and inclusive development efforts. Through this certificate, you'll be able to explore your specific interests in the humanitarian field and develop relevant skills, experiences, and professional networks.  

The certificate offers personalized advising, exclusive networking, and unique experiential learning opportunities including a simulation and the Humanitarian Assistance Applied Research Group. Graduates pursue humanitarian careers abroad and in the US working with international organizations, government, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.

Public Diplomacy

The graduate certificate in public diplomacy will provide students with a sophisticated understanding of how global media and strategic communication are employed to advance political and foreign policy goals. Through the examination of history, theory, and practice, students learn how public diplomacy can support the strategic interests of individuals, organizations, and governments, while building bridges and creating dialogue with international stakeholders.

The cross-disciplinary approach to contemporary international challenges  utilized in this program empowers students to better understand the implications of modern communication approaches and to apply them professionally in impactful ways. Graduates with this certificate pursue careers in public affairs and information, cultural diplomacy, nation branding, foreign aid, global health and development, international strategic communication, and international education.

Religion and International Affairs

This certificate provides students pursuing MA degrees in the Department of Religious Studies (CAHSS) or the Josef Korbel School of International Studies with the opportunity to enhance their home program of study with specific expertise in the scholarly and professional field of religion and international affairs. The program emphasizes scholarly and practitioner approaches to understanding the intersections between religion and international affairs in the modern world, providing students with an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary case studies as well as theoretical issues.

Only students pursuing a master's degree in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies or the Department of Religious Studies may pursue this certificate.
