Conflict and Turmoil in the Middle East:
Can the Next President Make a Difference?

How can we explain the chronic turmoil and instability in the Middle East? Are explanations to be found within the cultures and political systems of this this region or are external factors and interventions a better point of departure to understand this topic? This lecture will provide a broad overview on this topic with reference to US Foreign policy.

Brexit and Nationalism:
How and Why Britain is leaving the EU

How do we explain Britain’s referendum vote to leave the EU in 2016, and why has it produced such bitter discord and political turmoil since? Answering that question requires exploring the corrosive impact that nationalism as a narrative and ideology has on social and political behavior and beliefs.
