About Us

The Scrivner Institute works to advance education, research and dialogue centered on developing public policy solutions to some of today's most pressing issues, with a particular focus on socio-economic inequality and democracy and civic engagement. With an emphasis on practical solutions and a local to global focus, the Scrivner Institute is well-positioned to contribute to the dialogue on contemporary and interdisciplinary policy issues.

Articulate inter-disciplinary research programs on cross-cutting public policy issues, including democracy and economic justice.

  • numeral 2

Serve as a neutral hub for engaged civil discourse to address society’s most pressing challenges, acting as a forum and bridge for public policy-related activities across the DU campus.

  • numeral 3

Engage stakeholders—including government, private industry, non-profits, community partners, and others—in defining, analyzing, debating and promoting public policy solutions.

  • numeral 4

Equip students with the life-long capacity to understand, analyze, and address pressing public policy issues and debates, both as practitioners - through an undergraduate major in public policy and a Master of Public Policy program - and as citizens through robust dialogues and informative events.

  • numeral 5

Engage and collaborate with the Denver and Colorado community on programming related to the public good, acting as a regional convening partner for national and global initiatives.
