The Latin America Center at ICRS is the Korbel School’s hub for scholarship and events on Latin America. The center supports and coordinates educational, research, policy, and cultural activities related to Latin America and international relations in the region. Core faculty, staff, and students work to connect various campus individuals and organizations to provide comprehensive training for DU students and faculty.
Colorado is in the heart of the American West and has historic ties to different parts of Latin America. Denver also boasts vibrant Native American and Latino/a/x communities and is home to consulates of Mexico, Guatemala and Peru. The Center continues to build on this historic and geographic connection by maintaining an active research agenda on contemporary issues in Denver and in the Latin American region.
2020 has presented numerous new challenges for the world, from the Coronavirus to racial injustice to inequality and governance. The Latin America Center continues to educate on and raise awareness about these critical issues. This year we are running a new speaker series on Health and Race in the Americas to bring expert perspectives from Latin America and the DU community.
