Assistant Dean for Research and External Engagement

Jill Schmieder Hereau is the Assistant Dean for Research and External Engagement at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver, a position she has held since 2020. In this role, she is responsible for advancing the School's research initiatives and external outreach, promoting scholarly work, and integrating research efforts into the School's curricular, co-curricular, and public engagement programs. She also cultivates relationships with academic institutions, government and non-governmental organizations, research sponsors, and private entities, while contributing to the development of new projects and institutional grant opportunities.
From 2011-2019, Jill served as the Executive Director of the Korbel School's Sié Center for International Security and Diplomacy. Prior to joining the University of Denver, she worked in higher education developing programs to advance the study and understanding of international law and international relations.
Jill is an active member of the University of Denver's Women's Leadership Council and Sponsored Program Academic Research Council (SPARC), and serves on several other community-focused boards and committees.
