Chen Reis

Clinical Associate Professor

Degree Director, International Human Rights

I am an interdisciplinary practitioner, scholar and teacher with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of public health, international human rights law, and humanitarian studies.

In my work with the World Health Organization, Physicians for Human Rights, and the Women's Refugee Commission. I have been instrumental in developing professional and policy guidance, disseminating research, and designing international systems and mechanisms. I have helped to shape and build key international coalitions of policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and activists focused on amplifying local voices and transforming responses to sexual violence.

My work on sexual violence in humanitarian settings has uniquely combined policy development, practice, advocacy, capacity development, and research, and has influenced international and organizational policy, humanitarian practice, transitional justice processes, funding decisions, and research ethics standards.

I teach courses in human rights and humanitarian aid. I work with students to transform their interests and values to practical experiences and skills that will bring them into their chosen professional roles.
