Why JumpStart?

  • Save time and money by beginning a graduate degree in the final year of your bachelor's degree
  • No prerequisites for admission
  • Earn the same graduate degree as any other student - either an MA or MPP
  • Korbel is GRE test optional

Becoming a JumpStart student

With so many opportunities available to undergraduates, we provide individualized counseling sessions to help you explore your options and determine your eligibility to apply. To set up your appointment, contact [email protected].

  • Students must be full-time undergraduates for at least four academic quarters (summer quarters not included) and have at least four academic quarters remaining until they plan to graduate. Those on a different timeline should consult with the Office of Academic and Student Affairs to determine eligibility.
  • Maintain a 3.25 cumulative undergraduate GPA.
  • Maintain "Good Standing" as defined in the DU honor code.
  • Be on track to meet all undergraduate degree requirements.
  • Complete a JumpStart interview to determine whether you're approved for the program.

In your final three quarters, select classes from the JumpStart list of graduate-level courses. Assistance selecting courses is available through the Office of Academic and Student Affairs.

Apply to the Korbel School for the Fall or Winter Quarter following your expected undergraduate graduation (e.g., Spring/Summer 2026 grads apply for Fall 2026; Fall 2026 grads apply for Winter 2027).

Scholarships & Financial Aid

JumpStart students receive a 50% tuition scholarship as full-time graduate students—no separate application required!

As an undergraduate student, you can take up to 12 graduate credits at undergraduate tuition rates and use your existing financial aid package. Once your degree is conferred, the 50% scholarship covers the minimum credits required for your graduate program.

Additional graduate merit aid is available after completing your bachelor's degree and submitting a graduate application. Recipients will be notified in their admission offer. For personalized financial planning, you can connect with Korbel admissions staff.
