Korbel student groups encompass various topics, student activities, and events that unite our community. Korbel groups often organize events like group socials, town hall meetings, hiking with the Dean, food and coat drives during winter, and full-scale simulations and conferences.
The Climate Conscious Corps (CCC) is a student-led group dedicated to promoting sustainable initiatives both on and off campus. The CCC will provide students career building opportunities in the field of sustainability and will connect students, faculty members, state/local partners, and organizations interested in making the University of Denver and the greater community greener.
The Council on Economic Affairs (CEA) represents all Global Economic Affairs students and supports them through degree planning assistance, professional development opportunities, and community-building. It seeks to spark conversations and interest around economics topics and provide students with a network of similarly passionate peers.
The DU Immigrant and Refugee Rights Colectivo is a student-led group focused on connecting students and faculty who are passionate about immigrant and refugee rights to the broader Denver community through advocacy research. This organization provides support, educational resources, and volunteer capacity to individuals and groups working for immigrant and refugee rights and reform.
Korbel Graduate Student Association (KGSA) represents the collective interest of the Korbel graduate student body in all policy-making activities. KGSA creates supports social opportunities, financial and logistical support to individual students or groups that broaden the academic experience outside the classroom. KGSA also serves to represent Korbel graduate student interests throughout the University of Denver.
Korbel Graduate Students of Color (KGSOC) is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community for students of color at the Korbel School. Through social gatherings, they cultivate connections and strengthen students sense of belonging. This organization plans networking events provide opportunities for professional development by engaging with BIPOC alumni and professionals.
Founded in 2024, The Harbinger is the premier international affairs magazine of the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. Entirely student-managed and independently edited, The Harbinger showcases the work of Korbel students, faculty, and community members, providing a platform for diverse perspectives on global issues. The Harbinger publishes pieces across three core categories: International Stability & Justice, Economic Progress & Sustainability, and Innovation & Culture.
The Korbel International Student Organization (KISO) is a student led group representing the collective interests of all Korbel international students. KISO provides opportunities for social interaction for all international students at Korbel and aims to create a place of congregation and community.
Korbel Policy Association (KPA) is a student-led organization dedicated to developing the knowledge and experience needed for students to influence the issues that are important to them. Each academic year, they organize events that stimulate discussions and educate the participants about Public Policy in the real world.
The Korbel Wargaming Club (KWC) is a vibrant community of graduate students at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, dedicated to exploring the complexities of strategic decision-making and conflict resolution through immersive wargaming experiences. This club fosters an engaging environment where participants can delve into realistic military and geopolitical scenarios, enhancing their critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. KWC provides a platform for students from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines to collaborate, simulate real-world challenges, and develop a deeper understanding of international relations.
The mission of Military Affiliated Students is to provide a venue for Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve military and veterans enrolled in the Korbel School to come together to discuss academic topics and expand their knowledge.
The Queerbel student alliance is a forum for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. This club strives to not only incorporate queer issues into international studies and discourse but also to advocate on behalf of Korbel students who fall within the spectrum of queer identities. Overall, this club aims to foster inclusivity within Korbel and the greater DU student community.
Students for Africa (SfA) is a dedicated to providing and facilitating educational opportunities and connections for DU students and the greater Denver community. Students for Africa advocates and sponsors Africa-centered applied research, coursework, cultural/political events and partnerships with African-focused organizations and representatives.
Korbel Social Justice Solidarity Group (SJS) aims to embody solidarity on campus through improving student group connections, engaging in advocacy around local and global social justice issues, and volunteering in the Denver metro area. This organization monitors, amplifies, and supports social justice issues that are affecting students from diverse race and class backgrounds at DU and people in the broader Denver and global community.
