Korbel's master's degrees prepare you to address the great issues of our time. Our graduates are making a difference in governments at all levels, in international organizations, in non-profit organizations, and in the private sector.
All of our degree programs combine core skills, critical analysis, and experiential learning in a highly supportive environment.
Global Economic Affairs
Building a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable global economy.
Global Economic Affairs is not your grandparents’ economic program. We’ve eliminated the dazzling but ultimately useless economic proofs you find in the textbooks and focus instead on the way economies actually work. Global Economic Affairs focuses on political economy—the fascinating and complex interactions between economics, politics, and policy. In the program, students are prepared to make sense of today's most pressing and complex economic challenges.
Global Environmental Sustainability
Tackling the policy and social challenges of climate change.
Addressing the global challenges posed by a changing environment, natural resource depletion, and increased demands on our food, water, and energy resources is one of the defining tasks of the 21st century. Our MA in Global Environmental Sustainability helps students understand the causes and consequences of global change, inform strategies for action, and prepare for impactful and meaningful careers.
Improving economic, social, and political conditions for vulnerable communities.
This program emphasizes the need for broad-based, environmentally and socially sustainable economic growth that generates meaningful employment opportunities. You'll build a holistic understanding of how economic, social, political, environmental and human biological factors influence sustainable development efforts and outcomes.
International Human Rights
Promoting human rights and social justice in a globalized world.
Critically examine the historical processes, social movements, strategies and institutions designed to protect human rights. The degree focuses on a multidisciplinary study of human rights, including issues related to security, gender studies, migration and human trafficking. You'll gain a holistic view of human rights at levels ranging from the interpersonal to the international.
Reducing global conflict, civil wars, and emerging security threats.
Our international security program has evolved to prepare students to enter an increasingly complex security environment. Living in a globalized world requires innovative approaches to economics, environmental sustainability and social justice in order to improve individual lives and strengthen international security. Topics covered include strategy, foreign policy, intelligence, homeland security, emerging security threats, regional security and conflict resolution.
Customize a multidisciplinary program tailored to your interests and career goals.
A flexible and mostly self-directed degree, our flagship MA program has specialties in areas such as quantitative methods, environmental protection, policy-making, global health and specific geographic areas, to name a few.
Impacting lives through inclusive and ethical policy innovation.
