As a Model Development Research Associate, Ethan supports the continued development and application of the International Futures (IFs) model. His work includes long-term scenario construction and analysis, model testing and development, data analysis, and research communication. More broadly, his research focuses on long-term questions in human development, political economy, and international relations, with a particular interest in modeling and exploring the fiscal barriers to sustainable development and responses to climate change.
Having worked at the Pardee Institute throughout his graduate studies at the Korbel school, Ethan has extensive training and experience with the IFs model and its application to long-term global analysis. He also serves as member of the Scenario Evolution Process (SEP) working group, a global community driven effort to evaluate and update the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs), a set of long-term scenario narratives widely used in climate and socioeconomic research.
