Judicial Independence: Checks and Balances

This outstanding nonpartisan forum will examine the critical role of the courts as one of the three co-equal branches in our government. The Sturm College of Law welcomes a panel of eminent retired judges representing Keep Our Republic’s Article Three Coalition as they share their keen insights into the U.S. judicial system. The panel — consisting of Hon. Liam O’Grady, Hon. Deanell Reece Tacha, and Hon. David S. Tatel — will discuss the importance of an independent judiciary and why it matters to the lives of everyday Americans. They will discuss and answer questions on several timely and significant topics, including the judiciary’s critical role in upholding our democratic principles and the need to protect judicial independence at the state and federal levels.
