Randy Thompson

Adjunct Faculty

Randy Thompson studies how American religion interacts with U.S. foreign policy. His dissertation examined the isolationist turn that followed Operation Iraqi Freedom, though a case study of the Southern Baptist Convention, the country’s largest Protestant denomination and once its most militant.

Dr. Thompson has consulted with the State Department, USAID, MercyCorps, World Vision, the U.S. Marine Corps, Vietnam National University-Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and several universities across the U.S.

He has taught or co-taught over 30 courses in religion, international politics, history, economics, and intercultural communication. His students continue to range from ESL students at the community college level to mid-career professionals in graduate school.
