The Day After: Israel's Election and its Impact

Israelis go to the polls on October 27 in a vote widely framed as a referendum on the country's direction after years of war, domestic conflict, and political deadlock. But the ballot is only the opening move. Israel's system rarely produces a winner on election night, and the decisive contest begins with coalition arithmetic.

Join the Center for Middle East Studies at the Josef Korbel School for Global and Public Affairs, in partnership with the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy and Center for Judaic Studies, for a timely conversation with Professor Zach Levey from the University of Colorado, and joined by Korbel Professors Micheline Ishay, Ahmed Abdrabou, and Rachel Epstein.

This panel will address what is at stake for: the blocs and the swing constituencies, the Haredi draft question, Gaza, the West Bank, the Palestinian governance and legislative elections of November 28, and Israel’s relation with the broader region and Washington.

If you're unable to join us in person, you are welcome to join the virtual webinar (Note: The webinar will begin at 5:15 p.m.). Webinar link: https://udenver.zoom.us/j/85294939919
