Africa’s Path to 2063: Choice in the Face of Great Transformation is a report researched and written by the Pardee Center’s Jonathan D. Moyer, David K. Bohl, and Taylor Hanna, in collaboration with Ibrahim Mayaki and Martin Bwalya from New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), the technical arm of the African Union.

Invited by the African Union and launched in February 2019 at the 32nd African Union Summit and the 37th. Session of NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee Meeting. the report uses IFs to take a long-term, macro, and integrated approach to thinking about four transformations already taking place in Africa: demography, human development and inequality, technology, and the environment. The analysis seeks to inform policy, investment, and development choices for Africa’s pursuit of Agenda 2063 and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

This monograph provides an extensive analysis of the projected course of African development to 2050. Combining the deep and wide knowledge of Africa within the Institute for Security Studies with extensive use of the Pardee Center's International Futures modeling system, the discussion looks across most major development-related issue areas - demographics, economics, sociopolitical change, the environment, and human development itself, including health and education - over an extended forecast period. While not proposing specific policy initiatives, the analysis provides a context within which those who pursue sustainable human development can consider policy options.

Sustainable Development Goals Report: Brazil  2030 is a report researched and written by the Pardee Center’s Andrew C. Scott, David K. Bohl, Steve Hedden, Jonathan D. Moyer, and Barry B. Hughes, invited by the United Nations Development Programme (Bureau for Policy Programme Support). In consultation with the UN Country and Regional Offices, the report uses IFs to examine development trends and scenarios, to explore potential futures in Brazil for achieving the SDGs by 2030. Launched in 2015, the SDGs are a series of 17 global goals to reduce poverty, protect the environment, and ensure prosperity for all to 2030. The research will hopefully help steer collective efforts toward achievement of the SDGs in Brazil.

A new report published by the Pardee Center and the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) explores a series of ambitious but realistic interventions to improve economic growth and development in Nigeria.

Authors Julia Schunemann of ISS and Alex Porter, Research Associate at the Pardee Center, find that Nigeria’s basic physical infrastructure deficit severely undermines the country’s prospects for economic growth and development. Meanwhile, rapid population growth in Nigeria will compound the challenge of inadequate basic infrastructure. Building the Future: Infrastructure in Nigeria until 2040 uses IFs to take an integrated, longterm approach to accelerating Nigeria's infrastructure development. The report was launched at an event in Abuja on December 6, co-hosted by ISS and the delegation of the European Union to Nigeria.
