FuturesCape Policy Brief: Migration Trends in the Western Cape

Migration Trends in the Western Cape is the first of two papers exploring provincial migration, authored by Research Affiliate Alanna Markle and Dal van der Lingen for the Western Cape Department of the Premier’s Chief Directorate: Policy and Strategy. The brief highlights the significant and growing influence migration has had on demographic change in the province since 2001. This work was a precursor to a mixed-methods paper that uses a Delphi study to project migration flows in the province to 2030 and examine the implications for demographic change and service delivery in the province (to be released in July 2018).
