How can integrated analysis clarify the choices that shape long-term development?

We do not predict a single future. We use integrated, scenario-based analysis to help people understand how choices in one domain can shape outcomes in others over the long term.
Pardee’s sustainable development work helps decision-makers explore how climate, energy, governance, health, education, infrastructure, and poverty interact over time. Using the International Futures modeling platform, we examine plausible development pathways, illuminate trade-offs, and support more informed, future-focused decisions across countries, regions, and global systems.

How we engage

We bring quantitative tools and academic research into policy conversations in ways that are rigorous, transparent, and useful. We work with governments, international organizations, and other partners not just to deliver findings, but to build knowledge, shape conversations, and support better long-term decision-making.

We aim to be more than a research provider. We strive to be a trusted, long-term partner to institutions tackling complex global challenges by delivering timely, policy-relevant research grounded in the realities they face. Whether supporting national development strategies, contributing to global assessments, or advising multilateral institutions, our goal is to bring clarity to complexity and help decision-makers act with greater confidence.

How we support policy communities

We engage policy communities in diverse and deeply collaborative ways. Across our portfolio, we aim to inform decision-making at every level - from national strategy development to multilateral assessments.

What we study

Sustainable development is shaped by connected systems, not isolated sectors. At Pardee, we study long-term development dynamics across issue areas that are often treated separately, including climate, energy, human development, governance, infrastructure, and poverty. Our goal is to help partners and broader publics better understand how these forces interact, where trade-offs occur, and what different pathways may mean over time.

How we work

Our approach is grounded in empirical evidence and built for questions that unfold across systems and over time. Using International Futures, Pardee develops long-term scenarios that connect development outcomes to changes in climate, energy, governance, economics, and other major drivers. That integrated structure helps us examine not only what may happen within a single sector, but how choices in one area can ripple across others. We use that perspective to support policy strategy, planning, and dialogue in contexts where resources are constrained and policy goals can conflict.

Powered by International Futures

Much of Pardee’s sustainable development work is powered by International Futures, our open-source integrated modeling platform. IFs helps users examine how change in one domain can shape outcomes in others over time, making it especially useful for development questions that span climate, economics, governance, energy, and human well-being. Its value lies not in predicting a single future, but in structuring long-term exploration with greater clarity and transparency.
