IFs Training in Kampala Supports Long-Term Strategic Planning in Uganda
Three members of the Pardee Center research staff conducted an IFs workshop in Kampala, Uganda, February 5-9. Director Jonathan Moyer, Research Associate II David Bohl, and Financial and Program Officer Mickey Rafa were invited by USAID-Uganda and the Learning Contract to lead a hands-on training in quantitative analysis and long-term strategic planning for various organizations working in government, civil society and academia.
The workshop was an extension of the Pardee Center’s ongoing work in Uganda, including a 2015 report on development trends which helped policymakers prioritize and allocate aid, directly influencing the Uganda Country Development Cooperation Strategy. Most recently, our researchers used satellite data to estimate the size of Uganda’s 116 district economies, which can be used to explore how resources may be distributed throughout Uganda. This research was featured on the front page of Uganda’s Daily Monitor in January, 2018. Going forward, the Pardee Center will work with USAID and other partners to learn more about trends and policy options in education, migration, and hunger in Uganda.
