New report using IFs modeling system to launch this month
On October 16, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), the UK Met Office, and Risk Management Solutions will launch a joint report titled, "The Geography of Poverty, Disasters and Climate Extremes in 2030." The report’s authors examined the relationship between disasters and poverty, using the International Futures modeling system as their primary tool. They conclude that, “by 2030, up to 325 million extremely poor people could be living in areas most exposed to multiple hazards if dedicated action is not taken.” Pardee Center Director Barry Hughes will join a live discussion on the report's findings at the launch event in London. Interested parties can also watch the discussion online here on October 16 at 10am BST / 3am MDT.
