UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon visits the Pardee Institute

The Frederick S. Pardee Institute was honored to demonstrate the International Futures modeling system for Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, on June 7. During his visit, Ban, the University of Denver’s 2013 commencement speaker, expressed most interest in IFs extreme poverty forecasts and later emphasized the importance of the Pardee Institute's ongoing forecasting work during his graduation speech. “To me, the road ahead is rising. Don’t just take my word for it. Listen to the Korbel School’s own International Futures program,” he said. “The Pardee Center spends its days looking many decades ahead. What does it see? Continued dramatic reductions in global poverty, rapid gains on education, strong progress against communicable disease.”
