Pardee Center launches report with EPRC Uganda, titled, "Potential Long-Term Effects of COVID-19 on Economic and Human Development in Uganda"

On April 17, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures and the Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC) launched a policy brief on the “Potential Long-term Effects of COVID-19 on Economic and Human Development in Uganda”. It explores the effect of COVID-19 on economic and human development in Uganda in the short and long term. The model examines different scenarios to gauge the damages inflicted on the Ugandan economy. The Current Path scenario reflects the impact of COVID-19, while the No COVID scenario represents the path Uganda was on prior to the pandemic.

The brief was authored by Pardee researchers Taylor Hanna and Deva Sahadevan along with EPRC team members Francis Mwesigye, Paul Lakuma, and Linda Nakato. Funded by the European Union, this is the first policy brief published as the outcome of the collaboration between the Pardee Center and EPRC. The brief investigates the transformative effect of a policy push towards sustainable development goals agenda and makes policy recommendations.
