Jonathan Moyer Travels to Tokyo

Jonathan Moyer, the Director of the Pardee Institute for International Futures, traveled to Tokyo last month to meet with the Asian-Pacific Integrated Modeling (AIM) team led by Professor Shinichiro Fujimori at Tokyo University, Japan. The AIM model is another integrated assessment model led by Professor Fujimori and supported by other authors, including Dr. Moyer.

According to Moyer, the team is working on the next United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) Global Environment Outlook Seventh (GEO 7) report. The GEO report is an environmental assessment published every seven years by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This extensive report analyzes the state of the global environment, emerging issues, and policy responses.

Over the years, the Pardee Institute has actively led and contributed to previous UNEP GEO report chapters and continues to participate in meetings towards the drafting and subsequent release of the upcoming GEO 7 report.

Moyer noted that this trip was driven by the Pardee Institute’s commitment to fostering relationships among experts in the academic and policy world while using data to predict real-world development issues.
