Crossley Scholars to Participate in Leading Public Opinion Research Conference
Opportunity to Work Alongside some of the Leading Researchers
Two Josef Korbel School students will have the opportunity to work alongside some the nation's leading public opinion researchers at the American Association of Public Opinion Research national conference in Anaheim, California from May 15 – 19, 2014.
Adjunct Professor, Social Science Foundation board member and noted pollster and political analyst Floyd Ciruli will accompany Crossley Scholars Aaron Schonhoff and Kevin Stay to the conference. Ciruli explains, "Aaron and Kevin are assisting in preparing material for two panels which they will participate. On one panel leading national pollsters will present data and theories concerning forecasting the 2014 elections including the impact of foreign policy entitled 2014 Wave or No Wave. The Students will draft papers on the major conclusions from the national pollsters which will be shared with Korbel students in public opinion classes and conferences next fall."
In addition to the panels they are participating in, the students will have the opportunity to listen to presentations on topics ranging from the "Explorations of Muslim Public Opinion" to "Women's Attitudes in Conflict, Crisis & Post-War Zones: Research from Public Opinion Surveys." Furthermore, Schonoff and Stay will take part in student networking activities sponsored by AAPOR as well as discussions on career options.
Crossley Scholars are graduate students at the Josef Korbel School who gain background and experience in public opinion research. The students take classes in survey research methodology and in world and American public opinion related to international affairs.
