First Issue of Journal of Global Security Studies to be Published on Jan. 1, 2016
The Josef Korbel School of International Studies announced today that Professor Deborah Avant has been named the editor in chief of the Journal of Global Security Studies, the newest publication of the International Studies Association. The Journal will be housed in the School's Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security & Diplomacy. Avant is the Sié Chéou-Kang Chair for International Security and Diplomacy at the Josef Korbel School and director of the Sié Center. Two of her Josef Korbel School colleagues will join her on the Journal’s editorial team: Associate Professor Erica Chenoweth will be one of the associate editors and Jill Hereau, associate director of the Sié Center, will serve as the managing editor.
The Editorial Board will begin accepting manuscripts on Nov. 17, 2014 and the first issue will be published on Jan. 1, 2016 by Oxford University Press. The aim of the Journal will be to publish first-rate work addressing the variety of methodological, epistemological, theoretical, normative, and empirical concerns reflected in the field of global security studies. More importantly, it will encourage dialogue, engagement, and conversation between different parts of the field.
