New IFs demo offers browser access; download supports custom scenarios
The Pardee Institute has made several changes to how users access International Futures (IFs). A new demo version runs in your browser with no installation, so you can explore forecasts and compare pre-run scenarios right away. To build and run your own scenarios, download the free desktop version through a brief request form. The demo replaces the previous full online version, which has been retired.
Both versions run on the same model: Pardee’s open-source, integrated forecasting platform, which links demographics, economics, energy, education, governance, and other systems for 188 countries.
IFs Demo: explore in your browser
This free demo version lets users explore baseline forecasts, compare them with pre-run global scenarios, and export results as tables or graphs. It offers a starting point for examining long-term trends and exploring the model without installing software.
IFs Download: build and run your own scenarios
The downloadable version offers the full functionality of IFs, letting users create, edit, save, and run their own scenarios, with additional tools for examining historical data and model relationships. It runs on Windows.
IFs remains free to download through a brief request form available on the Use IFs page.
Why the change
The changes are part of ongoing efforts to improve how IFs is maintained, distributed, and accessed. The registration step also helps the Institute understand who uses IFs and for what purposes, so it can better support that community with documentation, training, and updates.
Getting started
Visit the Use IFs page to open the demo, compare the two versions feature by feature, and find download instructions. The page also connects users with learning resources, model documentation, and guidance for working with scenarios.
