Integrated Multisector, Multiscale Modeling

The Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures

The goal of the Integrated Multisector, Multiscale Modeling project is to significantly advance scientific understanding of how the complex human-Earth system responds to different stresses. With a focus on the US within a global context, the project is developing the capability to model interactions among energy, water, land, socioeconomics, critical infrastructure, and other sectors. The Korbel School is working with collaborators to contribute to the larger project by developing models of US demographic change, and projecting alternative scenarios of future urban and rural populations by state, as well as the spatial distribution of population within states. Working with colleagues at the Colorado School of Mines, we are also examining how climate change may affect migration between states and therefore affect the regional distribution of US population.
