Scholarships

As at most graduate schools, our students fund their studies through loans, scholarships and part-time employment. At Korbel, we're proud to offer a variety of awards that help relieve financial burden and bolster your academic credibility. We also partner with a number of programs and organizations dedicated to federal service.

Undergraduate Awards

We use a variety of sources to help supplement the cost of your DU education, including grants, scholarships, loans and Work-Study awards. Your academic profile and financial need will both factor into the type and amount of financial aid you receive as an undergraduate.

Graduate Awards

  • Merit Scholarships

Degree-seeking master's applicants who pursue full-time studies are automatically considered for competitive, merit-based aid during the review process.

  • Sié Fellowships

Sié Fellowships are full-tuition awards given each fall to five outstanding applicants who have been admitted to a master's program at Korbel. The fellowships are highly competitive and are granted to applicants who have superior academic credentials and significant work experience in the field.

Applicants to the fall term who apply before the priority application deadline are automatically considered for the fellowship.

  • PhD Assistantships

All applicants admitted to the doctoral program are eligible to receive a full-tuition scholarship and a living stipend of $20,000 per year for the first three years of study. We offer additional research fellowships, teaching positions and doctoral grants to ABD candidates beginning in the fourth year of study.

  • Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program

Korbel has long had one of the largest RPCV populations in the country, and we are proud of our 18-year partnership with the Coverdell Fellows program.

In these especially troubling times, we are also pleased to offer special accommodations to qualified RPCVs. Our Coverdell Fellowship no longer operates on a competitive basis, and all eligible RPCVs who are admitted to a master's program in Fall 2021 will receive:

    • A waiver of the application fee
    • An annual scholarship of $12,000
    • If desired, a reduction in required internship hours from 150 to 75 as needed for degree completion
  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award

Admitted master's applicants who hold the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award receive a dollar-for-dollar matching scholarship from Korbel.

  • Fulbright Program

The Korbel School works with offices around the globe to offer scholarship funds to Fulbright Fellows. For more information, please contact the Office of Graduate Enrollment at korbeladm@du.edu.
