Barry Hughes speaks at Sandia National Laboratories
On March 18 and 19, Barry Hughes visited the University of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratories to present a pair of lectures titled, “Alternative Futures for Energy Production and Consumption in the U.S. and the World.” He discussed the outcomes of a series of alternative energy simulations, which the Pardee Center developed jointly with the Sandia National Labs Sustainability Innovation Foundry. Hughes used the International Futures modeling system to address the environmental and economic consequences of future extraction and combustion of projected fossil fuel reserves, including shale gas and oil. In addition, he presented forecasts highlighting the impact of renewable energy sources on future alternative energy scenarios.
