Former Head-of-State Seeks Pardee Center Expertise, Visits Campus

On September 16, 2016, the Pardee Center for International Futures, alongside the Center for Middle East Studies and WorldDenver, hosted a discussion with Dr. Mahmoud Jibril, former interim prime minister of Libya. Dr. Jibril is a board member of the Sir Bani Yas Forum, the Independent Commission on Multilateralism and the International Advisory Board for UniCredit Group. He holds a doctorate in political science, strategic planning and foreign policy from the University of Pittsburgh.

His discussion, "Making Sense of Libya Today," featured an introduction by Dr. Jonathan Moyer, director of the Pardee Center. Dr. Nader Hashemi, director of the Center for Middle East Studies, moderated a discussion with Ambassador Christopher Hill, dean of the Josef Korbel School and a question-and-answer session with the audience. Dr. Jibril spent the with Pardee Center research scientists learning more about the International Futures (IFs) model and how the tool can be used for long-term planning.
