On May 31 and June 1, the Pardee Center hosted the research workshop ‘Political Settlements in Fragile and Conflict‐Affected States: Measuring Governance Trajectories.’ In partnership with the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Director-Designate Dr. Jonathan Moyer and Founding Director of the Pardee Center Dr. Barry Hughes welcomed a group of 27 to campus. Hailing from several countries and organizations, the cohort of researchers and policy practitioners gathered to continue the broad debate on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the international dialogue on peacebuilding and state-building.

The ISS working paper ‘Success and Failure of Political Settlements: Defining and Measuring Transformation’ by Julia Schünemann and Amanda Lucey served as a basis for discussion. Fellow researchers from the Korbel School of International Studies in attendance were Dr. Marie Berry, Dr. Cullen Hendrix and Dr. Oliver Kaplan.
